Fancy Red Diamond

A Real Rarity

A fancy or pure red diamond is the rarest of all the colored diamonds.  In 2007 a purplish red diamond weighing 2.2 carats was sold for 2.6 million. The  0.95ct Hancock Red Diamond that was sold at Sotheby`s for $880,000 on April 28, 1987 was purchased by the Sultan of Brunei who is said to have one of the largest colored diamond collections in existence. The largest pure fancy red diamond graded by GIA is the 5.11ct Moussaieff Red.
